Educational Service Districts
Nine Educational Service Districts (ESDs) provide regional services to all 296
Washington State K-12 public schools.
ESD 114
Olympic Educational Service District (ESD) is one of nine regional educational
agencies serving school districts and state-approved private schools in Washington
State. ESDs function primarily as support agencies and deliver educational services
that can be more efficiently or economically performed regionally.
Our Mission is to provide services to the local districts, to assist the Superintendent of Public
Instruction and the State Board of Education in the performance of their duties and to promote equity
in educational opportunity for students throughout the region.
ESD 189
Northwest Educational Service District's service area includes 35 school districts
and several private schools in Island, San Juan, Skagit, Snohomish, and Whatcom
counties. The school districts in our region serve more than 150,000 students with
varying languages, special needs, and learning styles. Our staff of administrators,
educators, and support personnel work to provide quality in-service opportunities
and student programs, while providing administrative support and technical
assistance to local school districts. NWESD has more than 30 programs organized into
eight departments: Administration, Fiscal Services, Information Systems Support
Center, Migrant Education Regional Office, Northwest Regional Data Center, Special
Programs and Services, Teaching & Learning, and the Technology Leadership Center.
